Project Writeup -- Dishonored Overseer Mask
The Overseer mask from the video game Dishonored is one of my favorite props from this game. I sculpted the mask using Apoxie Sculpt over a Pepakura papercraft model. It's cold cast using brass powder to give it the look of real metal.
Project Writeup -- Bioshock Bunny Splicer Mask
The bunny splicer mask is the first prop I made from the Bioshock series. That cute, iconic bunny ear shape is seen throughout the first game, worn by the splicers to hide their disfigurement as they try to gun you down or smash you with a pipe.
Project Writeup -- Bioshock Pipe Wrench Foam Prop
I binged on Bioshock. I didn't play the first one until the second one was already out, and I loved it so much I just played them both back to back. I put together a splicer costume last year, and when I wore it to Wizard World Portland I knew I was missing something. Yep... A BLUNT WEAPON.
Project Writeup -- Borderlands Psycho Bandit Mask, Part 2: Molding, Casting, and Painting
With the master sculpt complete, I gave it a coat of Rustoleum flat gray primer. This was mostly to give the sculpt a surface that wouldn't cause problems with curing inhibition of the platinum silicone I was planning to use. I was careful not to use anything on the sculpt that I knew might be an issue, but just to be safe I put the primer on it anyways.
Project Writeup -- Borderlands Psycho Bandit Mask, Part 1: Sculpting
The iconic Psycho Bandit from Borderlands was my first video game mask replica. I love those little stitching details and that disturbing fan mouth. I knew I wanted a sturdy, wearable mask in the end, so I decided up front that I would be molding the original sculpt so I could cast copies from urethane resin.
