Madder Red Mask, Bedlam

Madder Red is the protagonist of the comic series Bedlam by Nick Spencer. A supposedly reformed psychopath and serial killer, Madder Red wears a mask which is beautifully simple in its geometry — a design that belies the chaos which comprises his mind.

This mask was initially sculpted in clay to provide the rough shape, then molded and cast in urethane resin so it could be sanded and refined to a smooth finish. The eyes are made of a fine mesh material which has been mounted flush with the surface of the mask, giving a smooth, continuous appearance. The mask has been painted and weathered for a battered look, similar to how it appears in the comic.
